Who We Are
The Web Specialists was originally formed in 2003 by former Google employee Kevin Gray. Kevin joined Google in November 1998 as their first Senior Search Specialist (and also their first overseas employee), and was their 43rd employee on the roster working alongside founder Sergey Brin and Larry Page, as well an Eric Shmidt and Nikesh Arora. Whilst at Google Kevin was primarily focused on the evolution of the search algorithm and the establishment of different search techniques to enhance the brand. This provided a unique insight into the workings of the Google algorithm, and as a result Kevin is now widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on the intricacies of the Google algorithm outside of the company itself.
The Story So Far
Since leaving Google to start his own venture in 2003, the Web Specialists have since gone from just a single employee to a business that works with business both in the UK and farther afield, with offices in the USA and Asia following in 2011. With Kevins role diversifying towards research and devopment in latter years, 2014 saw Chris Weeks appointed as SEO Team Leader, heading up a 20+ strong team of dedicated SEO professionals. Chris, himself a former Google Senior Analyst, brings over 10 years experience to the role, and has grown with the company since joining in 2009. To compliment Chris’s appointment, John Mathers was appointed Web Team Leader to guide his team of developers towards creating the exceptional online work for which we have become reknowned.

Despite now spending most of his time involved in research and development, every online marketing campaign and website design project still flows through Kevin, personally ensuring that every project is delivered at its full potential.

Since joining from Google in 2010, Chris has risen to now lead the SEO Team of 20+ professional programmers that keep our clients ranking. Chris’s insight into future search trends honed during his time as an analyst ensures that we constantly deliver marketing strategies that are utilising the very latest trends and strategies.

Widely regarded as one of the best coders around, John leads the Web Team with a unique approach to creating websites and applications that focus not just on looks, but more on the user experience. This approach ensures that everything we develop not only meets the clients brief, but is also meets the industry standards expected.
Jessica joined the company in 2014 as an Accounts Trainee, and since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2016, she has headed up the Accounts Department. Jessica ensures that our clients always receive accurate documentation from ourselves, and also deals with any financial issues that may arise with clients.
